It’s SUMMER! A time when business can slow down just a little, offices empty out a bit earlier on Fridays and you get a flurry of “out of office” notices every time you send an email. For marketers, summer can lead to some real opportunities. At The Partner Marketing Group, we all have our own ideas on how we’ll take advantage of these months and hope some of these summer marketing ideas will inspire you.

1. Don’t Stop Marketing.

Yes, more people are on vacation, but the people who are still working may have more time to read your messages. And let’s face it, none of us can afford to skip two whole months of outreach. You can have a bit of fun though – bring some summer themes into your emails, content and posts. Remember too that you can always re-run your campaign later in the year (skipping the people who interacted the first time around).

2. Clean-Up Your Online Presence.

Keeping your online presence updated (and consistent) is an ongoing challenge. Setting aside a specific time to do it each year (especially a slower time) will help keep you current. In fact, we wrote a whole blog on this topic that will help you update your profiles and keep them that way.

3. Focus on Your Professional Development.

This is a great time to polish your skills, catch up with thought leaders and learn about new tactics. A few of my favorites:

  • LinkedIn Learning (with a one-month free trial) has some good marketing training on everything from branding to marketing analytics (and of course using LinkedIn more effectively).
  • It’s no surprise that the Content Marketing Institute is OVERFLOWING with educational and thought leadership articles about content. Check out their latest advice and while you’re there, sign up for their emails so you stay current all year.
  • When I think of thought leaders – my “go to” is Neil Patel. His blog covers all the aspects of digital marketing, is full of great ideas and is a compelling read. In fact, if you need more ideas in a hurry, check out Neil’s blog on the best takeaways from 33 marketing blogs.

4. Build Your Influencer List.

For content ideas and content to share with your customers and prospects – go to the experts. Take some time this summer to do online searches for blogs, industry associations, magazines, and LinkedIn for influencers in your clients’ industries.

Enjoy your summer and let us know if we can help you get your marketing plan and content ready for the busy season!
