With the volume of email that arrives in your inbox each day you may question the validity of using email for marketing. It seems that getting your message across in all of the other noise just won’t work. Don’t be discouraged – there is hope. Recently there was a survey conducted of CMO’s (Chief Marketing Officers) and the results were encouraging. In this survey the CMO’s were asked to prioritize their top 5 business objectives for email marketing and then to rate how effective email was at achieving them.

The chart from Marketing Sherpa documents the objectives and the emails effectiveness in achieving them. You are sure to see some of the common objectives such as increasing sales or generating leads near the top but for some of the lesser objectives, email was a more effective tool.

Email can be a very effective tool for reaching out to customers and building brand awareness. The take away from this is that email is a very effective marketing tool that should be considered for much more than increasing sales. If you are interested in finding out more information on the study you can read the full article at Marketing Research Chart: A look into how CMOs rate email’s effectiveness at achieving their top five business objectives.
